About Us
We are Katelin and Karl; a couple from Denver, Colorado who have been traveling as much as we can for over seven years. We aim to approach the world with open minds, and when we travel, we love to learn. It is far more important to us to engage with the new corner of the world we are exploring in the most real way possible than to check off tourist boxes. As international travel opens back up, we intend to be on the road much more consistently. Through this blog, we aim to connect with fellow travelers around the world, act as a resource for people in new places by sharing our experiences, and document our own journeys. The world is a big place, and we feel that in order to know yourself, you have to know others. We are thankful for the opportunities we have had to experience what we have, and eager to get lost somewhere new soon.
Our Travel Style
We spent our early 20's being very low maintenance travelers, traveling for months at a time on very small budgets. We learned to be cheap, but still have the time of our lives. Now that we are 30, we are a little less frugal, but still manage to get around on the cheap.
We have loved Couchsurfing, both through the website and through just making friends as we go. The best way to truly experience a place is through the eyes of someone who lives there and Couchsurfing has helped us experience things that we would not have been able to do otherwise. Often times we Airbnb or find comfortable but cheap and unique lodging. When we are in a new place, the first thing we look for is a connection. There is no better way to see a city or town than with someone who knows it well.
We love to try local foods and drinks, we love a dive bar, or a mom and pop restaurant. We love adventure, and are seeking cliff jumps, and hikes wherever we can, but we also love to lay on a beach drink a beer, or sit at a cafe and have a coffee.
We love the outdoors and find ourselves camping and hiking a lot and will most always choose to walk somewhere if we can. But, we also love the flux and flow of a busy city or a quaint town.
Overall we have learned that the less expectations we have for an experience, the more we find we enjoy it and can feel the rhythm of a place. Monuments, buildings, and mountains are great, but at the end of the day, people are the key.
